HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Tennessee Valley Community College has announced that its athletic program will transition from the Independent Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) to the American Junior College League (AJCL), effective immediately.

The move marks a new chapter for Tennessee Valley Athletics as the Defenders continue to build and expand their collegiate athletics program.

As a member of the AJCL, Tennessee Valley will enter a new competitive structure designed to provide additional opportunities for the Defenders and establish a more defined path for competition as the program continues to grow.

The transition from the ICAA to the AJCL is effective immediately. Additional details regarding conference scheduling, travel, league requirements and competition will be announced as Tennessee Valley moves into the upcoming season.

“This transition represents another important step forward for Tennessee Valley Athletics,” said Mirael Parker, Owner/Executive Director. “We are excited about the opportunities this new conference membership will provide our student-athletes and look forward to building relationships with our fellow AJCL members.”

The Defenders will continue preparations for the upcoming season while working alongside the AJCL to complete the transition and establish the program's conference schedule.

More information regarding Tennessee Valley's AJCL membership, upcoming schedule and conference opponents will be released as details become finalized.
